The point is so that there are people around who:
1 always believe what you say.
2 are supposed to obey your commands (even if they dont always, they're supposed to)
3 you can teach anything you want (want them to play magic, teach them magic; want them to play chess, teach them chess)
4 you get to watch grow up from the very beggining and know exactly what made them the way they are.
plus, if you treat your kids to icecream, you're just doing something nice for your kids, and if you happen to eat some too its not like you got icecream for yourself, just helping eat it.
ha-ha I liked "want them to play chess, teach them chess" --- in reality this didn't work :(, though magic did. So they actually decide what they want to learn to play as well...
